Our client, a large electric service provider, was replacing most of their legacy systems, including their billing systems, their customer care systems, their middleware software and their data warehouses. The replacements for these systems included 5 different SAP modules and other third party ancillary applications.
The primary Systems Integrator was a large international consulting company. The server hosting provider for the solution was a different third party hosting company.
The client needed a provider to represent their interests and ensure that the designed technical/infrastructure architecture met their technical specifications, would be cost-effective, and easy to maintain. This provider would need to serve as a liaison between the primary systems integrator, the hosting provider and the client's incumbent hosting provider to ensure that the solution was implemented in an optimal fashion.
Solution
Sendero Business Services:
Was chosen to serve as the client's representative on the BASIS / Infrastructure team for the Blueprint phase of the project.
Served as the project manager for the overall BASIS / Infrastructure team.
Served as a coordination point and liaison between the project development team members (i.e., programmers) and the hosting providers.
Teamed with the systems integrator to create requirements documents and build documents for the SAP and ancillary hardware infrastructure required for the solution. The solution called for a High Availability design with disaster recovery capabilities for the components. The requirements documents were provided to the hosting providers so that they could procure the required hardware.
Documented all network and firewall requirements associated with allowing communications between the hosting provider data centers and the client's legacy systems hosted by the client's incumbent hosting provider (which was different than the hosting provider chosen for this project).
Oversaw the design, procurement and implementation of the hardware and network infrastructure by the hosting providers.
